What’s New?
Textiles & Soft Sculpture
As usual, it has been a while. I have been focusing on my illustration business for a couple of years to pay the bills & enjoy more drawing time. I find myself consistently happy and content with my illustration work as apposed to my fine art which has been a roller-coaster ride for my mind if i’m being honest.
20 years later and still trying to get my work to feel like the perfect mix of what fine art is or needs to be in my mind. This may not be what it means for you, but for me, this is what I expect from a body of work:
- Conceptual: Strong cohesive meaning throughout the work
- Recognizable style as orig as possible
- A process where most of the steps are super fun
- Spontaneousness or loose to some degree
- Medium time length for completion of work
I guess that is all that is all that I want, but it certainly has felt much more difficult than that was to write. I can always check at least two-three of the boxes, but never all 5.
My newest adventure seems to check four of five boxes. I have been working on it behind the scenes since March this year without giving up. There was a lot of steps within the process that took an extensive amount of problem solving. I am on the very last step now and am so grateful that I stuck with it.
Check back for updates – have a great day!
