This is week five of creating larger tapestry work and I am loving this so freaking much, but I need to figure out how to describe these pieces. My first Mainframe Studios open house was last Friday and I hadn’t really put any thought into what to call or how to describe this body of work.
TAPESTRY is defined as a piece of thick textile fabric with pictures or designs, used as a wall hanging. So, how does this sound:
I create colorful textiles featuring illustrated designs formed by stitching wool fibers into a fabric ground.”
That sounds about right or the closest that I can think of. The majority of tapestries are hung directly on the wall, mine are actually gallery wrapped, but either way!

What do you guys think? Good explaination?
